Course Description
Great theater has the power to inspire, entertain, inform, and sometimes even transform our lives. This interactive workshop features local actors, directed by director/playwright Beverly Olevin, performing dynamic scenes from contemporary and classic plays such as Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Lion in Winter, Doubt, and Life of Galileo. Theatrical presentations are selected to explore the delights and dilemmas of the human experience. Class participants are invited to discuss the universal themes the plays express. Course lectures and discussions will focus on the role theater has played throughout history and the basic human need to share and learn from our stories. During the last session, class participants may choose to become more than an audience with an opportunity to present short monologues and scenes.
