EU at a Crossroads - The Fiscal Crisis in Context
Speaker: Anne Burrill
This talk will examine how the present fiscal crisis in Europe relates to the process of building the E.U. Issues to be discussed will include the history of EU integration and the challenges of building a single market and ensuring cohesion in the context of E.U. Member State diversity. The speaker is prepared to take questions on anything related to the talk, EU institutions, EU environment policy.
Anne Burrill is a Visiting EU Fellow in the Jackson School's European Union Center of Excellence for the academic year 2011-2012. She comes to us from the European Commission's Environment Directorate General, where she is Deputy Head of Unit for International Relations and Enlargement. Her work particularly concerns environmental relations with those neighbors of the EU which aim eventually to become EU Member States, or which have taken on commitments to progressively converge their national policies with EU standards and norms in the context of the EU Neighborhood Policy.
Anne has an MA in Geography from Columbia University, and a post-graduate diploma in Economics from the University of London.

David S. Rader teaches the Modern American History Project, the Sport Studies Series, the Modern American Presidency Series, the Theodore Roosevelt Lecture Series, the Trailblazing Through Time Series and the Wind, Sand, Sea and Stars Series, for academia, business, industry, government, and the military. He has taught as an adjunct instructor for thirty-seven years in numerous disciplines including American History, Political Science, Business, Management and Leadership, International Business, International Studies, Kinesiology, and the Social Sciences. He has taught for more than twenty-five colleges and universities in the United States and abroad and has worked in the securities, real estate, high tech and defense industries.
