Information Ethics, Security, and Privacy
INFO 498A The FBI estimates that criminal gangs now account for 15-20 percent of the malicious traffic on the Internet, and that revenues from cybercrime exceed drug-trafficking totals. As organized crime replaces the recreational hacker as the major menace to information systems, ensuring your safety and security online takes on even greater urgency. This course will introduce information assurance, the field that encompasses the methods and technologies that make information systems secure. You will be exposed to the best practices recommended by the Pacific Northwest information security community. Mastery of the material will give you the ability to adequately assess online dangers and protect your own systems at home and work.
