Master of Education in Instructional Leadership
EARNING THE DEGREE
This two-year program develops the skills and knowledge you need to become a successful instructional leader. Required and elective courses cover cutting-edge practices in organizational leadership, instructional coaching, study group facilitation, professional community support and school curriculum enhancement.

To earn the master's degree, you will participate in a four-week intensive (10-credit) first-year summer program. During the academic year you will return to campus twice a month after school hours to participate in a reflective leadership and inquiry seminar with your cohort. With the aid of your program co-advisors, you will develop a personalized program of study to complement the required leadership core. You will schedule these courses during the following academic years and in the second summer. You will engage in an instructional leadership field experience in your own school/district context and initiate related inquiry into an issue of practice that will result in your culminating project report.

Individuals starting the program in June 2009 can expect to complete coursework and earn the degree by the end of Spring Quarter 2011. Successful completion of all courses, and a practice-based culminating project are required to earn the degree.
