- You must complete four courses in the core subject area of composites. These four courses are AA 532, AA 534, AA 535, and ME/MSE 563.
- You are required to complete two analytical/math courses. You must complete either AMATH 581 or AMATH 584, as well as one of the following: ME 573, STAT 421, STAT 481, or STAT 506.
- Electives comprise a total of six courses, of which three must be technical electives from designated College of Engineering departments, and two must be in the areas of manufacturing, business, or systems analysis. The remaining class may be selected in any technical or non-technical area of interest to the student. Students may take an additional analytical course as an elective, if relevant to a particular technical area of interest. Up to two 400-level elective classes may be taken, but they may not be substituted for any of the four core courses.
- Independent Study. Students are required to enroll in eight credits worth of AA 600 (Independent Study) spread over at least two quarters. The project may be a laboratory experiment, team or independent design study, work-related project, or other project selected in consultation with a Faculty Advisor.
- The program of study has to be approved by the Graduate Faculty Advisor. Students should use the Master's Degree Program Plan form for this.
- Please note that all courses require the permission of the instructor if prerequisites are not met.
Completing the Program
The program includes 12 courses, plus a project, for a minimum of 45 credits. Students can enroll full-time, or they may elect to enroll part-time, so the courses can be arranged around professional schedules and other commitments. Part-time study is normally completed within three years, and must be completed within six calendar years. It is the student's responsibility to make certain that all deadlines set by the Graduate School are met to graduate at the expected completion of study. See a detailed description of Graduate School degree requirements.
