CAREER ROTATIONS
Unlike other sports administration programs that require a single internship experience, our national network of leaders helped us develop an innovative approach to internships that we call "rotations". These rotations are intensive experiences, or immersions, in core functional areas important for leaders in intercollegiate athletics to understand. You will experience the real work in these functional areas.

The purpose of Career Rotations and Internships is to develop an understanding of primary work responsibilities and functions within various types of collegiate athletic departments. These internships and career rotations can be completed in a variety of sports organizations within the collegiate, professional, interscholastic, not-for-profit, community, or sports business sectors. Students will have opportunities to apply philosophical foundations, evaluation methods, planning strategies and evaluation methods to actual situations or problems facing the functional area and/or department.

Plans for completing the 9 required credits allow for an individualized plan based on the student's areas of interest and the host organizations' available opportunities. The final plan should include a combination of experiences that total at least 270 supervised hours on site, expose the student to organizations of varying types, and provide experience in at least 6 of the functional areas listed below:
  1. Business & Finance
  2. Coaching Logistics & Team Operations
  3. Compliance
  4. Development & Fundraising
  5. Event Management
