Overview
London—the theater and music capital of the English-speaking world for four centuries will again be the focus of the 2008 edition of this popular UW Extension travel-study tour. The tour will center on concert and theater performance, including 12 events in 14 days at the major halls and theaters, offering a wide sampling of the season's best fare. Most evenings will be devoted to performances, while the mornings will feature veteran tour leaders, John Webster, UW English Professor and Rodrick Swantson, Royal College of Music.
Though focused on performance, the tour will allow ample time to discover other aspects of London. The days will be free to explore this historic city on your own, to shop or just relax. One day each week will be entirely free from scheduled events in order to allow you to plan your own excursions either within or outside of London, or to attend other events of your choice. Oxford, Stratford, Cambridge, Salisbury or Canterbury are a few of many possible day-trips.
