Beginning English for Writing in Science and Industry

ESCI N160 - Improve your written English language skills in science and industry contexts. This course focuses on vocabulary and grammar used in defining, explaining processes and procedures, and presenting data. The final individualized project may be an instruction, procedure or specification document. Suggested placement: Level 6 or higher on the UWOELST or completion of Advanced Academic English.

This course is part of a two-course online certificate program that provides international professionals with an opportunity to improve their English skills in the context of technical documents. The second course in the certificate is Intermediate English for Writing in Science and Industry (N170). After successfully completing ESCI N160 and N170, students receive a University of Washington certificate.
