Virtual worlds have become a reality beyond just gaming. Now simulated environments enhance all types of organizations, including online communities, education, retailing, political expression and military training. These interactive environments allow anyone to create a personal digital character and to interact with others in virtually operated global businesses and other in-world institutions in real time. As the technologies develop over the next several years, virtual worlds will become more sophisticated, more common and people will spend more time in them.
Position yourself to be part of this emerging movement with the Virtual Worlds Certificate Program. Your education will be hands-on and practical; this program is delivered exclusively in a simulated environment. You will learn to navigate virtual worlds and also to explore and develop the potential for virtual worlds beyond just games and entertainment.
You will develop the following key skills:
- Design virtual worlds, including multimedia
- Build in and account for human interaction
- Program and integrate with databases
- Evaluate the effectiveness of virtual worlds
This program benefits professionals who create digital communication and internet-based services. More specifically, the program serves professionals wishing to develop a technical background in design, narration, visualization, and experiential marketing, as well as general practitioners with knowledge of the Web, 3D environments, and architecture, wanting to enhance their knowledge with virtual programming skills.
