Exercise Science and Nutrition (SPORTS CP100 A)

Provides an overview of human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and nutrition while examining the relationships between each. Topics:

Sports Medicine: Injury Assessment and Management (SPORTS CP105 A)
Schedule: (10 sessions) Wednesdays, 6-8:50 p.m., Jan. 7-March 11, 2009; $610; 3 CEUs; Instructor: Katie Green
Examines basic knowledge and skills required for sports injury care. Principles of injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care and follow-up management are discussed. Topics:
- The sports medicine team
- Fundamentals of sports medicine and orthopaedics
- Mechanisms and classification of sports injuries
- Biomechanics
- Injury prevention
- Taping and bandaging
- Emergency care of sports injuries
- Exercise rehabilitation
- Medical nutrition (eating disorders, diseases, weight management)
