Approved by the UW Computer Science & Engineering Department (Nationally ranked in the top three Graphics programs by U.S. News & World Report)

The gaming industry is poised for the development of hundreds of new games over the next few years. There is an increasing demand in the Puget Sound area for artists who have the ability to produce memorable characters and environments using 3D animation software.

Novice artists and game programmers who take the 3D Animation for Games and Digital Media Certificate Program gain a solid introduction to the artistic side of the game industry, learning basic concepts and skills of 3D animation. Program graduates will learn:

  • 3D modeling
  • Texture mapping
  • Animation fundamentals
  • Lighting
  • Rendering
  • Core concepts related to game technology
This certificate is ideal for novice to semi-experienced Max users and will provide a broad knowledge base on which to build. Novice artists and game programmers interested in developing fundamental skills for the fast-paced, in-demand game industry, will also find this program beneficial.

Computer-based classes are taught in a modern PC lab by seasoned professionals who have years of real-world experience and insights into the field. All classes are offered in the evening on the UW campus, Seattle.
