Richard Hobbs, FAIA
President, Strategy Design
Hobbs is an adviser to the professional design community, providing vision and strategy for professional service firms and organizations. He has more than 20 years of experience in private practice, including 10 years as AIA vice president for professional practice, and two years as AIA resident fellow for marketplace research. Hobbs is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Hawaii's School of Architecture, and the author of more than 100 articles in AIArchitect on the changing practice of architecture. He holds a bachelor of architecture from the University of Washington and a master of science of architecture from Columbia University.
Robert Mattox, FAIA
Principal, The Coxe Group
Robert Mattox holds B.S. and B.A. degrees in architecture from Rice University and an MBA from The University of Michigan. With more than forty years in practice, he has assisted many firms with tools and software for financial and business management and in the application of computer-based information tools for financial, operational, and human resources management. Maddox has served as business manager of several architecture, engineering and planning firms located in the Midwest, San Francisco, and in Boston.
He authored Financial Management for Architects, published by The American Institute of Architects in 1980, and the revised AIA book, Standardized Accounting for Architects, and co-authored Success Strategies for Design Professionals: SuperPositioning for Architectural and Engineering Firms. He has conducted numerous financial management workshops for professional organizations.
Roger Williams
Principal, Roger Williams Architecture Design Photography
Williams has over 40 years of experience in residential and commercial design in the western US, Japan and Korea. He has edited, photographed and illustrated a number of books, and authored the chapter on International Practice for the AIA Architect's Handbook for Professional Practice. Involved in multiple economic development efforts for the US and Washington, Williams' expertise has made him a frequent presenter in the US, Latin America, Europe and mostly Asia. He has served on the faculty in design, ethics, and international practice at the UW, Washington State University, Cal Poly and Cornish School of the Arts. Williams earned his bachelor's degree in architecture from the California State Polytechnic University, and his master's in architecture from the University of Washington.
