Gain a working knowledge of our nation's critical infrastructure systems and their vulnerabilities. Understand the hazards confronting these systems, and learn preventative measures to reduce and respond to natural and human-made risks. Prepare to detect and warn against impending attacks and system failures.

What the Program Covers

  • History of critical infrastructures and pressing challenges to planning and protecting them, including the nature of strategic planning in the public sector and intergovernmental issues of coordination
  • Details about three specific critical infrastructure systems in the U.S.; students choose three of the following systems:
    • Cyberterrorism and communications systems
    • Transportation systems
    • Physical critical infrastructures (roads, ports, water, utilities, energy)
    • Public health and disease control
    • Business continuity
