Taking Regular University of Washington Courses
Students currently enrolled in our Upper Division may be eligible to take regular university courses in combination with English language courses. There are requirements, though, and you need permission to do this. You should make an appointment with the Regular Class Advisor to be advised of the requirements.

Please Note: Taking UW courses does not mean you are admitted to the University of Washington.

Admission to the University of Washington
Admission to UW English Language Programs does not mean you have admission to the University of Washington. That is a separate process. Admission to the UW is highly competitive, and you must meet all admission requirements, including proof of English language proficiency. You must apply directly to the UW through the undergraduate or graduate admissions offices.

Applying for Colleges or Universities
As you are improving your English, the Academic Advisor will help you find and apply to other institutions where you can continue your education.

Most universities in the US require international students to complete English or other requirements to be considered for admission. However, completion of our program will not guarantee you admission to the University of Washington or any other university or college.

  • Deadlines
Most community colleges and universities in the US have strict deadlines. For example, if you want to apply to the University of Washington (UW) as an international student, you must have all of your applications materials (including TOEFL scores) in to the UW admissions office on or before January 15th for Autumn Quarter (September). The UW accepts international undergraduate students Autumn Quarter only.

  • References
Bring letters of recommendation from at least three academic or professional references.

  • Funds
You must have financial statements to prove you have funds to study here. All financial documents should be in English and converted to US dollars.
