Class Size
Class size is limited to 18. Average class size is 14.
Classrooms
Classes are held on the beautiful University of Washington campus.
Class Materials
There are no textbooks to buy. Class materials are provided as part of your tuition.
Field Trips
Field trips are an enjoyable part of STEP. A campus tour, canoeing on Lake Washington, sports day on Denny Field, shopping at the University Village, bowling, ping-pong and pool at the university activity center, and admission to the UW's Henry Art Gallery are all included in the cost of the program.
Optional pay-as-you-go activities will be offered. Some of these may include: visiting the Woodland Park Zoo, shopping at the Northgate Mall, a Seattle Mariners game (afternoon games only), hiking at Discovery Bay Park, visiting the Space Needle and Seattle Center, taking ferry boats to Bainbridge Island and Alki Beach, a tour of Seattle's only organic chocolate factory, and a tour of Safeco Field. Please note that you will be responsible for fees and transportation costs to each of these destinations. Interested students may purchase a 9-day "City Pass" activity pass for $44.00. This pass entitles you to admission to a number of exciting Seattle attractions. During the mornings, you will be in your classroom, improving your English skills. In the afternoons, there will be different activities planned outside of the classroom. These will give you more opportunities to practice your English.
Your Classmates
The program is open to students from all countries. Recent STEP students have come from Austria, Brazil, Burma, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and Ukraine.
