Before Classes Begin

Housing
You are responsible for securing your own housing and transportation while staying in Seattle. You may stay in UW dormitories, with a host family, or with friends and relatives. For more information, please visit the Housing page.

Medical Insurance
Since STEP a short-term course for non-F1 students, STEP students are not eligible to purchase insurance through UW International & English Language Programs. We strongly recommend that all STEP students purchase medical/travel insurance in their home countries that will provide medical coverage for the duration of the stay in Seattle. Visits to hospitals and clinics are expensive in the United States. Please purchase medical insurance before you leave.
