Program Structure

Quarter 1: Preparation Seminar
This quarter consists of a three-hour seminar course that you take in addition to IBEP, ETH, or BUSIP.

This seminar course meets three afternoons a week during the first five weeks of the quarter and only one afternoon a week thereafter. It provides:

  • useful information about office communication and etiquette
  • activities to define your personal and career goals
  • interview preparation

The instructor will gather information about your interests so that your internship (Quarter 2) will be in a company that is a good match for you and the company. The placement coordinator may assign you, for instance, to a hotel, lumber company, marketing firm trade office, or non-profit organization, depending on your interest.

Quarter 2: Internship & Workplace Seminar
This quarter consists of an internship in a local company and another weekly seminar. The internship is an unpaid position of at least 23 hours per week. Your instructor will supervise you during the internship. You will also attend a two-hour, weekly seminar in the afternoon.
