What to Expect
Here are some of the many things you can expect when you study in the English for Tourism and Hospitality program on the University of Washington downtown campus.

Housing
You are responsible for securing your own housing and transportation while staying in Seattle. You may stay with a host family, in shared housing, in an apartment, or with friends or relatives. On a space available basis, you can obtain accommodation in the UW dormitories, where you also have the option of purchasing meals in the dining program. In Autumn Quarter, the UW Dormitories are not available.
Medical Insurance
All full-time students should have medical insurance. The UW International & English Language Programs offers inexpensive medical insurance for those who do not have coverage from their own countries. For more information about medical insurance, please go to the Student Services pages...... »

The English for Tourism and Hospitality Certificate Program has an excellent location in the center of the beautiful city of Seattle:
Puget Sound Plaza Building
1325 4th Avenue, Suite 400 Seattle, WA 98101 For directions, see map. Getting downtown is easy. We encourage you to use public transportation. There are many bus stops. From the University District, you can take bus # 70, 71, 72, 73, or 74. If you come downtown by car from I-5, take the Union St Exit, and go four blocks. We are on the corner of Union St and 4th Ave. Here are some links to help you find us:
U-Pass (Bus Pass)
As an ETH student, you can buy a low-cost bus pass. You can ride the buses in and around Seattle, ride the University of Washington Night Shuttle, and get discounts in many local businesses.
No Smoking Policy
Smoking is prohibited in all university facilities, including those in Downtown Seattle. Please read the smoking policies of the University of Washington and of the City of Seattle policy before you come to class.
Weekly Planner
Each quarter you receive a UW International & English Language Programs weekly planner. You can use the planner to write down your homework, activities, and parties. The planner also has useful information and websites.
Facilities on the Main UW Campus
As an ETH student, you can use the excellent libraries on the main UW campus to borrow books, do research, and use computers to check e-mail and search the web.
With prior approval, as an international student, you can work part-time on campus only. Please be aware that not all campus jobs are open to nonmatriculated students. |
