If you want to work on your English skills while you are in the United States in addition to taking a certificate program, you should do that before you take FPM, BUSIP and/or the Business English Internship Class (BEIC). Many of our students are very satisfied when they take this sequence of classes:

  1. General English
  2. IBEP (more English skills with business content)
  3. BUSIP or FPM (more business content with some English skills)
  4. BEIC (practical experience in an American company)

Learn the basics of project management processes!
Fundamentals of Project Management (FPM) is an intensive ten-week certificate program focusing on the core disciplines of project management. It will help you

  • gain a better understanding of project management processes by examining case studies and participating in team projects that cover such areas as risk management, communication skills, cost, and scheduling.
  • improve oral and written business English language skills
  • network with faculty and other project management professionals
  • experience American culture in Seattle, a beautiful and vibrant Pacific Northwest city
FPM has been designed by an advisory board of UW faculty with contributions and guidance from many industry professionals.

Students who take this program may also apply for the Business English Internship Course (BEIC).

Those who successfully complete the program receive a UW Certificate in Fundamentals of Project Management and 18 Continuing Education Units. FPM meets eligibility requirements for an F-1 student visa. Please note: If you choose to take BUSIP or FPM you may not return to a UW IELP program the next quarter.

If you are an international business professional or international student seeking expertise in project management, this program is for you!
