Program Components
This program consists of three components:
- Academic Preparation
The Academic Skills Preparation course focuses on developing your skills in
- US academic writing
- critical thinking, analysis and note taking using case studies and U.S. academic models
- vocabulary development
- reading comprehension
- small group work
- Oral Communications
Because university graduate life requires a great deal of oral language proficiency, the Presentation Skills course is designed to improve your English language ability in
- giving oral presentations
- leading and participating in discussions
- pronunciation, intonation, and fluency
- Orientation to Life in the U.S.
Through a combination of lectures and panel discussions, you will explore issues that directly affect the life of students in the US, including health, safety and professors' expectations. Students will have the opportunity to get advice directly from current graduate students.
