Get a jump-start on your college experience with Early Fall Start.

Incoming University of Washington freshmen can earn academic credit and make a smooth transition to university life one month before autumn quarter begins.

Take a Lighter Load in the Fall – or Get a Head Start

With the 5 credits you earn during Early Fall Start, you can take fewer credits in the fall because those 5 credits count toward autumn quarter. Or get a head start on your credit requirements.

Explore Your Options

Wondering what to major in at UW? With a variety of Discovery Seminars to choose from, Early Fall Start provides the perfect opportunity to delve into a subject you’re considering as a major or to explore an entirely new topic. Or you can hone your writing skills through our writing and academic English courses.

Build Connections

With class sizes limited to 25, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with UW faculty as well as make friends with other incoming UW freshman. With afternoons free, you’ll have plenty of time for other activities on campus with your new classmates and friends.

Get Ahead of the Game

As other freshman are adjusting to college life at the beginning of autumn quarter, you’ll already know the shortest route to class, what college classes are like and where to grab a cup of coffee.
