 ABOUT LEARNING ONLINE
A flexible alternative
As the only online master's degree of its kind in the country, the Online Graduate Program in Construction Engineering allows you to pursue an advanced degree on a schedule that works for you. With no requirement to come to campus, you can set your own schedule and complete the degree from anywhere. This flexibility means you can continue to pursue your career – and your life – while earning your degree.
| "I like the interaction via the discussion board. My classmates are very
diverse and offer a lot of different views on a topic. I would say it is
even better than the dialog I have had in some of the classes I have
attended in person."

A virtual community
Online courses are taught by the same world-class faculty that teach in classrooms on the University of Washington campus. Students regularly communicate with instructors and with one another via online discussion, e-mail and voice mail. And because students start each course in groups, they have the chance to share experiences and knowledge as they proceed through the program. Read about students in the program.
Technology requirements
The program relies on an online infrastructure, including course syllabi, threaded discussion and submission of assignments. In addition, some courses may make use of animations, video and other media. To pursue the degree, internet access from a home or work computer is required. (A broadband connection is highly recommended.) Students use a UW Uniform Access account, which provides local dial-up modem access in western Washington. Those outside the coverage area need an internet service provider of their choosing.
