EARNING THE DEGREE
All students in the Online Graduate Program in Construction Engineering take the same schedule of courses. The end degree they earn depends on which specific degree/department (Civil Engineering or Construction Management) they applied to initially. To earn the master's degree, students complete a total of 45 credits, consisting of 14 courses and a graduate research report.
Students taking one course per quarter can complete the degree in approximately four
years. Depending on other work and personal commitments, students can reduce this time by enrolling
in more than one course per quarter.
Once a student is enrolled in the first course, he or she has five years from that quarter to finish the program, regardless of whether their status at the time of enrollment was matriculated or GNM (graduated nonmatriculated). Students must complete their graduate research report no later than 15 months after completion of the final course in the program.

Participants need to successfully complete each course in the previous term before advancing to the next term. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is required to receive the master's degree. In addition, a minimum grade of 2.7 is required for each course credited toward the degree.
Individual courses are open for enrollment to qualified non-degree students. Students may also enroll first in one of three Construction Engineering certificate programs. To apply individual and certificate courses toward the degree later, it is necessary to obtain graduate nonmatriculated (GNM) status prior to enrollment in the first course. A maximum of 12 credits earned as a GNM student may be used toward the degree.
