Either the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) or the Department of Construction Management (CM), through their normal degree granting processes, issues the master's degree in Construction Engineering. You must select the department from which their degree will be granted at the time of application.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- An appropriate bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the United States, or its equivalent from a foreign institution:
- For Civil Engineering: BS in Civil Engineering or other engineering discipline
- For Construction Management: BS in Construction Management or Civil Engineering – or other degree with prerequisite courses*
- A grade point average of 3.0 or better is required, based on the last 60 graded semester hours or last 90 graded quarter hours of undergraduate and graduate study. If your GPA is below 3.0, consider starting as a Graduate Nonmatriculated (GNM) student.
- Applicants must submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, a statement of goals and objectives, and letters of recommendation.
- International applicants: The UW Graduate School requires students whose first language is not English to submit a valid Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or Michigan Language Test (MLT) score. A minimum score of 580 (TOEFL) or 237 (TOEFLC), or 90 on the MLT is required for admission to the program.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE GRE EXAM
GRE scores are a standard requirement for admission to the UW Graduate School, and are required for admission to the Graduate Program in Construction Engineering. The requirement for the GRE may be waived for individuals who have earned an advanced degree (master's or higher) from accredited U.S. institutions. Please contact the department reviewing your application to inquire about a waiver (see contact information).
To schedule a GRE exam, call 1-800-GRE-CALL, or see the GRE Web site at www.gre.org. To obtain copies of your GRE scores, call 1-888-GRE-SCORE.
To direct your scores, use code #4854 for the University of Washington.
GRADUATE NONMATRICULATED STATUS

| Spring | March 1 |
| Summer | May 1 |
|
For those who either are not sure about the degree or are concerned about their academic and professional backgrounds, another option is to enroll first as a graduate nonmatriculated (GNM) student. GNM students are not presently seeking a degree, but may apply a maximum of 12 graduate level credits toward degree requirements should they be accepted into a graduate program. It is important to note that acceptance as a GNM student does not imply admission to a graduate degree program.
GNM application instructions are listed with the Graduate application instructions.

INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
Because the Online Graduate Program in Construction Engineering is completely online and does not require students to attend classes on campus in the United States, international students in the program are not eligible for student visas or financial aid.
Special application instructions
Application deadlines for international applicants are the same as those for U.S. students, however, it is recommended that international applicants submit their applications 3-6 months before the posted application deadlines to allow for transcript evaluation.
English language proficiency
The graduate school requires international applicants, immigrants to the United States, and permanent residents of the United States, whose native language is not English and who have not received a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited U.S. institution, to submit a valid Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score. Only official TOEFLscore reports less than two years old will be accepted.
Citizens of Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom are exempt from the TOEFL requirement, as are applicants with bachelor's or master's degrees from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom.
For additional information or to make arrangements to take the TOEFL, contact the Educational Testing Service at www.toefl.org. Scores should be reported to Institution Code 4854.
The Michigan Language Test (MLT) may be taken instead of the TOEFL.
Information on the Michigan Language Test can be found at http://www.washington.edu/oea/services/testing_center/exams/mlt.html.
A minimum score of 580 (TOEFL) or 237 (TOEFLC), or 90 on the MLT, is required for admission to the Online Graduate Program in Construction Engineering.
