Presentations are typically made by two graduate students and can involve any aspect of the atmosphere and climate, as well as other topics in the physical sciences. The format and style of presentations is very flexible; students usually prepare their presentations specifically for the class they plan to visit. The presentations are most appropriate for grades 6 to 12, and can be adapted to fit into most regular class periods.
Special Requirements: In order to make sure that volunteers can be found and that they are given sufficient time for preparation, requests for speakers should be made a minimum of two weeks before the desired visitation date. Speakers work with the classroom teacher prior to the presentation to arrange details of the visit (such as time, class size, type of presentations, etc.) and to make certain any equipment, props, etc., needed for the presentation are available. Close coordination between the speakers and the teacher is essential to make the school visitation a positive experience for everyone involved.
